Like every session and comp, we all gathered together and began our warm-up. 20 star jumps, 10 mountain climbers, 10 cross mountain climbers, 20 star jumps and 15 burpees (no press-up), repeated 3 times and then dynamic stretches. With a few basic climbs to warm the fingers, the team went around the centre marking up their score sheets with easy, medium and hard to decide what they're going to do first and plan their attack. most of them really underestimate themselves by marking a fair amount of easy climbs with medium/hard which as a coach is a little disappointing but when they do complete the problem it gives them a good boost. For the new members, they hadn't had much training but JEEEZ! These guys are strong! One of the new girls, she's a short for her age but can probably lock off for 20 minutes and still have enough juice to campus, absolutely crazy!
Battling through the problems, with some falls but many tops, these guys were crushing. It was great to see the new guys fitting in well with some of the older team and really working together on all the problems, cheering each other on, giving each other beta and tips, this is how a squad should be. I may be a little biased but I still believe that we are the loudest squad! Even with all the parents there and other teams shouting, we were still the loudest - mainly one of our members but the rest helped.
With the day coming to a close and scorecards being handed in, I'm still impressed with the amazing scores the team got. One of our team members is currently in 1st place for her category, one new member being 3 points off of 3rd place for Mile End's results and everyone getting much better results than expected especially when Mike claimed that it was a harder set.
Still mega proud of these guys, until the next Blokfest in Bristol which only a few members are going to, I can't wait for the team to crush and surprise me even more.
