Recently, we planned a trip to the Arch North with the whole VauxSquad along with head coach (Robin) for some additional training and a fun change to their normal regime. 10am start getting everyone in and ready to start and crack on with their warm up! While they were doing that Robin and I went around marking 30 problems for the squad to do, similar to a comp but focussing on problems that specifically highlight their weaknesses! Upon completing some of their warm up, a little finish of playing stuck in the mud. Started of with Iris being the tagger and struggling to get everyone and ending with Anthelme annihilating everyone with his huge span!
Squad warmed up and ready to go, we look at the blocks together splitting them into two groups, older and younger with different blocks to complete. At first everyone was crushing but a few blocks in the things started getting really hard for them. With plenty of rest the team carried on completing a fair amount of problems... Until the lunch time struggle hit. A long break with plenty of food, including Power Sweet and Power Apples (for Vegan-powered Gabriel and Outdoorman Andreas) we continued for a little while longer.
Really impressed with these guys managing to keep their spirits and climbing energy up for 4 hours with a lot of falls and working weaknesses. Approaching the last few hours and everyone feeling pretty shattered, we decided to change things up and finish with some Acroyoga! This was by far the squads favourite part of the day. With some cool shapes, flips and various other things, it was time to draw the day to an end with some strength & conditioning. After 6 hours at the Arch, the squad were completely shattered! Now to work their weaknesses before the next comps and Junior BBC's in June - PSYCHED!
After the team had left, Robin, myself, Matt V-C and Rolo planned for a climb! With the aim of crushing all the greens in the centre (the hard set!). I think between all of us, we ended with 2 or 3 that were incomplete, with Matt 'I burned off Ondra' making up most of those, t'was time to leave.
Mad keen to do this again!
